“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Hebrews 13:8 (ESV)

I was reminded of this verse today and saw how it applies to my life. God’s will for us does not change on a whim. It does not change when our desires change. His will for our lives remains constant; just like Jesus does not change. “Jesus is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow.” Hebrews 13:8 I take great comfort in that knowledge. I know the Jesus I read about in the Bible is the same Jesus I will see in Heaven. His desires do not shift like the wind; he is constant and steady. That is how our walk should be as Christians. We should be steady and reliable, not given to emotional outbursts (I am very guilty of this, so please don’t listen outside my front door) or flighty desires. We should show the world we are built upon a rock that is steady and unchanging.

A few months ago, I posted I was preparing a proposal for a large publishing house. After two months of hard work and many prayers I sent it off and waited. Today, I heard back. At this time, they are not interesting in publishing my book. It was a complimentary note; maybe they were trying to let me down easy. Either way, as I sat and read their email the scripture, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever” came to mind. I found I wasn’t upset or emotional, but rather at peace. I know that God’s plans have not changed since yesterday. He gave me this story to write, so I will write it to the very best of my ability. God was not surprised by the email I received. I can trust Him to know what the future holds and I will walk in faith. “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1

I see a bright future and I pray it is filled with published books!

Be blessed, dear friends.

  2. I remember how hard you worked on that proposal. What a great response and a good example for me when things I hope for do not turn out the way I would like. Praying for your future and continued blessings in writing your book!

    1. That’s right. One “no” down. Hopefully, the next answer will be a yes! Every writer needs a rejection letter. It builds character. 🙂

  5. I’m proud of you for submitting and proud of your great attitude toward this disappointing development. The mere fact that you submitted puts you miles ahead of most people (including me). Your time will come, at just the right time.

  7. Your words are pure Truth! I am so glad to hear that you are resting in Jesus and trusting in His Truths! I know God gave you that story and in His timing He will open the doors for His glory & purposes. For today, give thanks for the marvelous experience you gained in this process. Keep writing for HIM!!!! I know our God is Failthful, just as I kow you know this too. Keep Believing and trusting…afterall, it took Jesus 33 years before His ministry started… All in God’s timing!!!
