Agent News

I have some big news to share with you today!!

For years I have worked on my writing craft. I’ve completed manuscripts, attended writing conferences, and workshops. Through it all God has blessed me. I remember when I first felt called to write.  John was entering preschool and I was at a cross road. I had been battling post partum depression for a while and felt discouraged in so many areas of my life.  God pressed onto my heart the urgency to write. Only He knew at the time how it would change my life. He is a good good Father.

Over the last five years, I have met some of my dearest friends, because only a writer at heart can understand the ramblings of someone talking about the motivations of imaginary friends.  Over time, they have read my writing and encouraged me to write better. They have told me over and over that publication will happen, but I always knew the first step would be finding an agent that matched my own personality. I knew if the agent was someone I respected and could learn from then God would open doors. I have prayed for the person would fill that role. I worked and waited for the right time.

Today, I officially signed on to be represented by Julie Gwinn with The Seymour Agency.

You might be asking, “what’s next?” My own family asked… “what does this mean?”  For those of you who are not in the writing world, an agent is someone who believes they can sell your work to a publishing house. You sign a contract that allows them to pitch your ideas. If a publishing house is interested then they contact your agent.  This a huge step toward publication because the general rule is they only accept proposals by agents.

I’m very excited to be working with Julie Gwinn. She has a vast amount of industry knowledge since she worked as an acquisitions editor until a few years ago. The American Christian Fiction Writers recognized her as Editor of Year in 2015, since then she has established herself as a highly respected agent.

God has blessed me and I give Him all the glory. Thank you for walking this journey with me. The day looks a little brighter as we move forward after Hurricane Harvey.
