Book Review: Out of a Dream by Rosemary Wesley Hines

Back Cover:

Michelle Baron should be reveling in her new life in Sandy Cove, Oregon. From the outside, it all looks idyllic. A newlywed settling into a quaint coastal town, her husband establishing himself as a junior partner in a law Out of a Dreamfirm—what more could she want? But a series of disturbing nightmares haunts Michelle. Her quest to understand these dreams leads her to the New World bookstore, where she begins a spiritual journey that will challenge her Christian heritage as well as her marriage.

My Thoughts:

One of the elements I loved about this novel was how real Michelle became to the reader.  She never came across as a perfect character. She had a weakness that many readers will be able to relate with, especially if they or someone they know has ever dabbled in the occult. It was a nice change to read a christian fiction book willing to take on such a tough topic. This book was based on experiences similar to Rosemary’s.

I enjoyed reading this story, because it was easy to like to Michelle and her husband. I became invested in the story and wanted to see their relationship work out. I could sympathize with Michelle. Her marriage was not perfect. Watching Michelle struggle through her decisions and hurts was hard.  At a few points I wanted to shake the book and tell her how easy it would be to fix her problems, but then life is like that.  We struggle with making the right decisions.  Sometimes the way to a relationship with Christ is not an easy path, but a road paved with poor choices and difficult consequences.  I can’t wait to see what happens next.  I’m thankful her next book is already available. I highly recommend this book!
