Every November writers around the globe sit at their computers and furiously pound out words on their keyboards. They’re trying to find the elusive glory of completing NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month). It’s a challenge, because it requires the participant to write 50,000 words in 30 days. My mind is boggled just looking at those numbers. Especially when I consider it took me 8 months to write my first book which came in at 97,000 words. Can I write half that amount in a month? Is it possible for me meet this challenge? I believe so. I am prepared with my outlines, character profiles, and a story line that speaks to my heart.
Of course, reading statistics like this are not encouraging… In 2011 there were 256,618 participants. 36,843 writers finished 50K words by the midnight deadline on November 30th. So… is it crazy to think I can’t wait to get started?!?
I might not be around as much on Facebook, Pinterest or here on my blog. Please know it is because I am working fast and furious on my new project. I will reappear on December 1st. Who knows I might just learn to drink coffee in the process… nah.
Here is a funny calendar I saw today. Maybe I will print it off and hang it above my desk.
I have faith you can do it. Keep me posted on your word count.
