God Moments, Writing

Adrift: How God Rescued Me

Do you feel unsure of your purpose? Adrift in a boat and tossed here and there by waves. I’ve been there. Life is hard. It’s filled with decisions needing to be made and at times, you can only pray you make the right choices.

heb quote 2

God doesn’t give us a roadmap. Instead, he calls us to walk by faith. He wants us to pray and seek Him through the Bible. I love that God has given us free will. It allows us to make mistakes and learn. It also gives us choices that sometimes do not have a clear answer.

When I first started writing I was in that boat. Our son was a young toddler, but after his birth, I  struggled with depression. I couldn’t explain it and I didn’t know how to fix it. I tried medication and it helped, but due to other factors, I stopped taking it. I still remember one night crying out to God. I didn’t know what to do. Thankfully, God did.

His sweet calming presence filled my heart. He gave me one word. WRITE.

I still remember how stunned I was sitting in my living room. I’ll be honest and say my gut, raw reaction was not very godly. I tried to argue with Him. I didn’t have faith. He pressed harder into my spirit and I knew I had my answer. I opened my laptop and began writing and I haven’t stopped.

Writing fills my soul. It’s my lifeline to God.

I’m the tugboat and He’s the ship directing my path.

I no longer feel like I’m drifting without a purpose. Do I know the plan? Have a roadmap? No, but I know He has a plan.

I’m simply a thankful girl who loves her Lord and wants to walk the path He’s given me.

We are called to live by faith. Have courage. He’s got this, whatever you are struggling with He is right there with you.
