In a few short days, I’ll load up my car and drive to Dallas with a few of my favorite writer friends. For four days, we will talk: writing, characters, books, plotting, publishing, and probably agents. I’m so excited and thankful for this opportunity to attend the American Christian Fiction Writer’s Conference. This is the second year I will pitch a finished manuscript (it’s called a manuscript until it’s published) to agents and publishers, I will sit in class and absorb the wisdom offered by those I respect, and lastly I will network like crazy. I can NOT wait for it all to start. Seriously, this is like Christmas vacation for writers.
In order to prepare, blogger and author Laurie Tomlinson is hosting her annual pre-conference mixer.
Here are the questions and my responses:
Location: Houston, TX
What you write/tagline/trademark: Contemporary Romance / “Experience Faith and Fiction”
Place in the book world: Currently working on my third manuscript. My second is going through final polish before being submitted to two agents who requested it.
On a scale of hugger to 10-foot-pole, please rate your personal space: I love HUGS!
The unique talking point that will get you going for hours: Anything writing… I love to talk plots and where you are in your journey, family, and travel.
Loved ones at home you’ll be missing: My husband and two kids (daughter and son).
Conference goals we can pray for? That my appointments will go according to God’s plan. I will keep a joyful spirit and enjoy the conference. Also, that I will have the sensitivity to know when someone needs prayer. The conference can be quite a rollercoaster, so I want to pray for those who need it.
Anything we can celebrate with you? The past year has been a hard one as I’ve tackled a new style of writing, but I’m excited to see what this next year will bring. This conference starts a new writing year for me and I can’t wait to see what God has planned.
