Book Review & Giveaway: The Widower’s Second Chance by Jessica Keller

Widower's Second Chance

Back Cover:

Learning To Love…Again

Idyllic Goose Harbor, Michigan, offers a fresh start for broken-hearted Paige Windom. In addition to securing a teaching job at the high school, she’ll fulfill her dream of helping at-risk teens in a nearby inner-city mentoring program. But Caleb Beck, a handsome yet overprotective widower and the center’s founder, doesn’t want Paige anywhere near the place. He’s afraid she’ll get hurt—just like his late wife. Paige knows she can do a lot of good—for the kids and Caleb himself. If only she can show him how to let go of his fear, maybe they’ll both find a way to reopen their wounded hearts.

Goose Harbor: Love is in big supply on the shores of Lake Michigan.

Favorite Points:

I loved the chemistry between Paige and Caleb. Their relationship zings from the beginning of the book. Caleb is a great hero. He is patient and kind. The few times he needed to be tough, he showed a side that made me smile. It was sweet. One of the great things about reading Loved Inspired novels is the fast pace set by the story line. The books are small, so story line moves fast.

Thoughtful Moments:
Jessica Keller did a great job of developing the characters in this book, but I found myself relating to Caleb a little more than Paige. It was hard for me to understand why Paige couldn’t see what a great guy Caleb was and trust him.

Overall Review:

Loved this book! I highly enjoyed the two days it took me to read it. I’m hoping the future Goose Harbor books will continue with minor characters. There are a few that I would love to see developed more. Shelby has a story that I would love to see told. 🙂 I like Jessica’s writing style. After reading two of her books now, I can see that she is going to be one of my favorite authors.

  4. Sounds like a good one! Love the characters’ names, too (although I would picture my 9yo granddaughter as an adult because her name is Paige), 🙂 Looking forward to reading this one, whether I win or not. Blessings!
